At a Foundation Trustee meeting on June 3rd, 1967 a motion was passed by the Evangelization Committee to form a sub-committee called the Orphanage Committee. Their responsibilities included surveying the needs of the orphanages in Brazil, establishing a budget and to be a liaison with the brothers and sisters working in Brazil. The first meeting was held in East Peoria, IL on July 10, 1967.
The first report to the Foundation was the next year, 1968. The name was changed to the Missionary Committee to serve as a central source of information, orientation and guidance for persons interested in missionary service.
