Angela is the oldest of Melvin and Katherine's children - Luke, Tim, Becky and Abe. She was born in Francisville, IN. She is tall, slim and blonde and has her father's attributes of modesty, gentleness, and sensitivity. While she was young, her parents were looking for direction in their call to evangelize the unreached. That call led Melvin to move the family to Athens, Alabama, to bring the good news to share croppers in the cotton fields there.

After several years there, Melvin knew God was moving the family to be involved in foreign evangelism. They left for Brazil when Angela was 7, spending two months unexpectedly in Florida while her younger sister, Becky, was born. That move started her life's devotion to reaching people who have never heard the gospel. Her best friend growing up was her brother Luke, whose vision to reach the lost of the Amazon basin continues to inspire her.

She completed four years of study at Biolia, with the addition of another year at Capernwray, graduating in 1972. Then she tackled a postgraduate course in linguistics at the Summer Institute of Linguistics at the Universtiy of NorthDakota. She felt that God wanted her to study linguistics so she could assist Brazilians to evangelize their Indian tribes. God was indeed preparing her for future work with the Brazilian Indians on the Amazon.

After working in various capacities for different mission offices in several countries she returned to Goiana, Brazil. She began substitute teaching religion. Over the years she has been involved in many areas. She trained young people to work in the high school teaching religion during study hall. Under her leading the Christian education department at Central church, in Santar?m became the prototype for other Missions churches. Angie led retreat for single girls. She also sought out and counseled drug addicts, and helped in their rehabilitation. She became involved with two jungle churches, visiting them and presenting Bible studies. She helped them train teachers of the Word. Angie also developed her artistic talents and gave dramatic chalk talks at churches and meetings. In the late 80s she took on a river retreat project, designing and overseeing the remodeling of a beachfront house into a facility for evangelistic meetings. Its porch became a circular stage overlooking the white sands of the Tapajos River, a popular and crowded retreat. Here Gospel music poured out, and the message of the Gospel was clearly proclaimed to vacationers.

Angela and her Dad, Melvin, currently live and work in Parintins, the second largest city in the state of Amazonas. Here, in the heart of the Amazon, she's seen God win tremendous battles, saving, healing and delivering precious people. They've watched Him work in their lives, giving them servants' hearts and enabling them to do His Kingdom work on earth!
